The t25 arctic is our only dual-porch tunnel tent. Designed for polar and extreme conditions, the design has a third pole in the middle of the inner compartment for greater strength and stability – it makes a huge difference compared with 2-pole tunnels. At 4.20 kg, it is our heaviest tent, but this is par for the course when building a tent to withstand worst weather the planet can throw at it. The t25 arctic is also wider and longer that our standard 2-person tents to give more space for bulky winter gear; in fact, it could sleep three in normal use.
All the fabrics, poles and components used in the t25 arctic are of the highest specification with emphasis on strength and durability rather than light weight. It also features Cuben – a new, high-tech laminate fabric developed for spinnakers on the America Cup yachts – which is 70% lighter and twice as strong as the flysheet fabric, is impermeable to UV-light degradation, and is unusually translucent to enhance the feeling of “lightness” in the porch area.
Poles are DAC Featherlite NSL (their most robust specification) and are supported by triple guylines in the centre pair, and double on the outer pair. The guylines themselves are 2 mm Dyneema, fully-UV-resistant and completely hydrophobic, so don’t freeze up.
The t25 arctic is our extreme-weather tent for expedition use.
